Illinois War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission

Jim DeGroff, 64, formerly from of Hornell, New York currently lives in Troy, Illinois.  He has been reenacting for two years and is a member of many historical groups:  Hill’s Fort Society, Illinois War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission, Illinois Sons of the American Revolution, and Illinois Society of the War of 1812.  Jim and his wife, Lola, have been pivotal in the rebuilding of Hill’s Fort and the establishment and promotion of the Illinois War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission.  According to Jim, it is important to honor patriots of the War of 1812 and to promote historical education to Americans.
