take place during the 2011-2014 bicentennial period. Check back
often for updates.
EVENT PLANS AND IDEAS
• Develop a clothing and accoutrement fair to be used
initially at Kaskaskia and then on to other sites throughout Illinois.
• Develop a tri-a-rama presentation based in Illinois
Territory on 1) the Revolutionary War, 2) the Lewis & Clark era, 3)
the War of 1812.
• Develop a program that honors and remembers Rev. Billy Jones in Madison and Bond Counties.
• Develop a program that honors and remembers Simon Lindley in Bond, Madison, and Sangamon Counties.
• Develop a Madison County fort and blockhouse site tour.
• Develop a Monroe and Randolph Counties fort and blockhouse site tour.
• Develop a Wabash Valley fort and blockhouse site tour.
• Plan a program at the old Rose Hotel in Elizabethtown.
• Develop an audio CD of Illinois War of 1812 tales or short stories.
• Support establishment of a new Daughters of 1812 chapter in the Hutsonville/Wabash area.
• Illinois State History Fair project scenario which includes:
o Listing of potential project titles;
o Listing of available source material;
o Offer to find a mentor for history fair entrants;
o Place history fair projects in libraries around state.
• Provide mentor for research papers for Illinois History Fair.
• Provide mentor for audio-visual projects for Illinois State History Fair.
• Develop a Geo-Caching route that encompasses many War of 1812 era sites throughout Illinois.
• Develop a DVD of Illinois in the 1812 era
• Plan a program in Grafton celebrating the Illinois River Block house.
• Plan and complete the Commission’s book Illinois in the War of 1812.
• Plan the Lively family massacre commemoration for Washington County.
• Plan the Wood River massacre commemoration.
